Social Welfare

General Help:
Widows, orphans, elderly and the poorest of the poor benefit in the form of dry ration, clothing, and other basic human needs.

HRO collects and distributes donations as per instructed by donors. Funds are distributed directly by HRO to support orphans, widows, poor elderly, and families in extreme poverty and for marriage support for poor girls. Funds are also used to support deserving students for their educational needs and less fortunate ones for their healthcare needs.

Marriage Support for Girls:
Assistance to orphans and poor girls during their marriage.

The curse of dowry is common in most of the South Asian countries especially Pakistan where parents are unable to get their young daughters married due of lack of money. Such grief-stricken and helpless parents sometimes resort to extreme measures such as killing their children and thereafter committing suicide themselves.

HRO supports such parents and provides them with basic necessities to get their daughters married. The items normally include a few dresses, pair of shoes, few utensils, beddings, fan, a sewing machine and some cash for other marriage expenses. It costs approximately $100 to $600 for each marriage.

One Million Meals:
Help families in extreme poverty who cannot feed their children.

Human Relief Organization provides over One Million Meals throughout the country every year. It costs 25 cents per meal, $50 for 200 meals, $250 for 1000 meals.

Typically, Human Relief Organization offers packages of flour, rice, lentils, dry milk powder, sugar, tea, spices, and oil to needy families, though the nature of food supplies can vary according to the regions and countries. On an average, a package for a family of five for one week costs $20.

Children should also be encouraged to donate small amounts from their pocket money so they can learn the importance of giving.

Water Hand Pumps:
Water is Life; Provide Access to Potable Drinking Water.

Clean drinking water is a major problem in developing countries like Pakistan. Water-borne diseases are rampant in economically depressed areas because clean running water (typically provided by the municipalities), is simply not available. The only alternative is to install hand pumps to draw clean water from the ground. The depth of the water table varies from 10m to 200m depending on the region and local topography. While the cost of drilling is directly proportional to the depth where water can be pumped from, the average cost of installing a hand pump, along with maintenance of the pump for 5 years is $200.

HRO installs water hand pumps in remote areas to benefit the poor with potable drinking water.
