Medical Assistance
Provide assistance for doctor visits, lab tests, surgeries and medicines to poor patients diagnosed with contagious diseases.

In developing countries like Pakistan, it is not un-common to have an unemployment rate of 50% or higher. Those who are fortunate enough to hold a job, depending on their profession and experience, typically they earn between $20 and $200 per month. The head of household often supports a family of five to seven members as well as parents, and sometimes siblings.
These severe economic circumstances result in less attention to personal hygiene in the family. This creates various medical problems. The problems are often ignored and can develop severe, long-term health related issues. Furthermore, school going children catch various diseases, but treatment is often neglected.

It is difficult to support each and every medical case. Hence HRO has focused its efforts to serve patients with contagious diseases to protect their families and community at large from catching these diseases. HRO supports patients suffering from contagious diseases and provides them access to doctors, lab tests, medicines and follow-up visits. In addition, assistance is give to patients who need surgeries in the localities where HRO operates.

Hospital Assistance
Assist charitable hospitals serving underprivileged patients.

Charitable hospitals, whether run by governments or private sectors, are always in deplorable conditions and cannot keep up with the growing demand of patients. HRO collects used and new medical equipment and supplies, and donates them to hospitals and clinics enabling them to provide better service.

HRO requires the hospital administration to sign a contract agreeing that the equipment being donated:

  1. Will be used to treat the poor and the needy,
  2. Will remain as the property of HRO, and will not be removed from the hospital premises without HRO’s permission.

Medical Camps
Organize and support health care camps in small towns and villages to benefit the poor.

In rural areas, often there are no facilities available for basic health care needs. The few that are there are under-staffed and mismanaged. Hence poor families suffer, particularly women and children because of lack of female doctors in remote locations.

HRO sponsors health camps in remote locations and arranges for medical teams, medical supplies and medicines to benefit the poor.

Healthcare Education
Brochures are published to help inform and educate the poor about the causes, prevention and cure of common and contagious diseases.

The key to cost-effective health care management is prevention, which can only be accomplished through health care education. In rural areas, diseases are rampant due to lack of hygiene and proper education or understanding of common diseases.

HRO has developed simple and easy-to-understand informational brochures in local languages on diseases such as Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, Scabies, Ringworm, Diabetes etc.

Information in the brochures has been taken from Allopathic medicine as well as alternative medicines, such as Homeopathic and Prophetic medicine. Information in these brochures answers questions such as:

  • What are the symptoms of these diseases?
  • What are the causes for these diseases?
  • What steps can be taken to prevent and cure these diseases?
